Kahrs

Kahrs

Kahrs has been in business since 1857, founded by Johan Kahr in Sweden. For decades, it sold only toys, doors, spinning wheels and machinery to build doors and floors, among other things. But in 1941, the grandson of the founder, Gustaf Kahr, invented and patented the multilayer wood floor, what we know today as Engineered hardwood flooring. Kahrs quickly began producing hardwood flooring, and today Kahrs is the one of the largest engineered flooring manufacturers in the world. In addition to its rich history, Kahrs is also known for its sound environmental practices. It is certified by a number of different conservation organizations, their products have VOC levels below any other manufacturer, and their main factory is powered by unusable material from its lumber.
