Congoleum Vinyl Flooring Description
Congoleum Vinyl Floors is one of the leaders in the resilient flooring industry. With a variety of patterns and colors to choose from like florals, geometric designs, stone or tile, wood and more, Congoleum has something to match any decor, whether casual, classical or contemporary. Congoleum also features a number of technical innovations like their UltraShield nylon wearlayer with aluminum oxide, which incorporates nanotechnology. In other words, UltraShield floors use extremely small particles that are able to not only provide superior wear resistance, but create a more realistic look and feel as well. This nanotechnology is also incorporated in their Xclusive collection, which adds the benefit of patented Scotchgard protection for the ultimate in stain resistance and durability under a name associated with household protection for many years. Their Designer Inlaid collection doesn't have an UltraShield finish, but features a high-gloss, low-maintenance UltraGard urethane wearlayer and Granulographic Imaging, an vinyl textured embossing method that creates highly realistic surfaces. Other collections feature their Scuff-Tuff urethane aluminum oxide wearlayer, their AlumaTEC polymer wearlayer also featuring aluminum oxide, or one of their earliest innovations, the ChromaBond natural gloss stain resistant finish. All their floors feature their protective ArmorGuard construction that protects against ripping, gouging and indentions, as well as their Bac Stop backing that helps prevent damage or discoloration from mold, mildew and other moisture damage. All Congoleum vinyl products can be installed with or without adhesive.
Notable collections from Congoleum include their Xclusive or Ultima lines of highly realistic, durable floors with lifetime wear and manufacturing defect warranties, and 15 year warranties against staining, ripping, gouging, scuffing and moisture damage. Also worth noting are their Utopia or Highlight collections, which have innovative, durable floors with 10 year warranties at a reasonable price. Finally, for those looking for discount vinyl, the Concept collection with a 10 year wear and manufacturing warranty and 5 year moisture damage warranty, and the Prelude collection with a 5 year warranty against manufacturing defects and moisture damage are worth checking out.

Congoleum Description
Congoleum's origins were in one of the earliest birthplaces of floorcloth, a predecessor to linoleum floors, the town of Kirkcaldy in Scotland, through a man named Michael Nairn, one of the pioneers of the floorcloth industry. Though skeptics dubbed his new venture "Nairn's Folly", his company built itself slowly, and in the 1870s, their floorcloths became commonplace, thanks to the affordability and practical nature of the floors. In the late 1880s, Nairn's son, Sir Michael Nairn, decided to move the company to the United States, hoping to find new opportunities for growth. Once settled in Kearny, New Jersey, Congoleum began producing linoleum floors. In the 1920s, the company partnered with another company that produced a product simulating wood that was designed to border rugs and linoleum floors. The companies merged and their product was called Congoleum after the materials used to make it, which came from the Belgian Congo region. Congoleum began experimenting with vinyl as a flooring type before World War II, and by 1960 had introduced a full line of 12' sheet vinyl floors. They have remained on the forefront of resilient flooring technology ever since, developing innovations like textured inlaid vinyl, the Chromabond stain resistant protection, using pearlescent chips to create a dimensional appearance, using the high gloss Scuff Tuff urethane finish to increase durability, and introducing BAC STOP mildew protection. Since 2000, Congoleum has continued to innovate, offering such items like their UltraShield nylon and aluminum oxide wearlayer for outstanding stain and scratch resistance, and their Xclusive collection featuring Scotchgard protection. Today, Congoleum offers a variety of flooring, including Sheet Vinyl, Vinyl Tile and Luxury Vinyl Tile.
